About the Role

Manages comprehensive nursing care for patients within the Children's Day Treatment (CDT) program. Responsibilities include medication administration, developing plans of care and/or discharge plans for assigned patients, and making age-appropriate interventions based on individual patient needs. Organizes and prioritizes nursing care activities while considering the needs of patients and staff. Assumes responsibility for quality patient care, professional development, and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Provides nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
  • Delivers patient/family-centered care focusing on physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.
  • Conducts assessment, develops nursing diagnoses, identifies outcomes, plans and implements interventions, coordinates care, and evaluates goals and interventions consistent with MUSC policies.
  • Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment through patient privacy and professional behavior.
  • Participates in a professional practice model, including shared governance, peer review, and professional development.
  • Coordinates care delivery using care management principles to improve patient outcomes.
  • Identifies clinical priorities and initiates action to enhance patient care.
  • Participates in performance improvement and research activities to improve patient care and organizational processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013, with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing must enroll in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN degree within four years of hire.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking patient vitals, administering injections, or conducting physical exams.
  • Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed.
  • Visual acuity and color perception to read medical charts, documents, and monitors accurately.
  • Auditory ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues and perceive sounds such as alarms or instructions.
  • Stamina and resilience to handle the physical and emotional demands of patient care, including long shifts and stressful situations.
  • Mobility to navigate clinical environments, including moving between patient rooms and other facility areas.
  • Compliance with infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment.

Pay

Hourly pay grade: Health-28.

Schedule

Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
