Registered Nurse II - ED - Nights

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.

About the role

This position is located in the Emergency Department at the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA).

Responsibilities

• Provide competent, goal-directed nursing care to patients and families using the nursing process.
• Deliver safe and effective care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, and working in various physical positions as required.
• Lift, transfer, and move patients and equipment as needed (e.g., transferring a 100 lb. patient may require 50 lbs. of force; pushing a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet requires 20 lbs. of force).
• Work in confined or cramped spaces, elevated areas, and temperature extremes.
• Perform repetitive motions, fine and gross motor activities, and maintain sensory functions (vision, hearing, tactile, and olfactory where applicable).
• Work rotating shifts, overtime as required, and in a latex-safe environment.
• Manage stressful situations effectively.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross equivalent).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Pay

Hourly pay grade: Health-28.

Schedule

• 36 scheduled weekly hours.
• 3 twelve-hour shifts per week.
