About the role

The Registered Nurse I position at the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) within the Emergency Department (DMC) provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process. This role requires a minimum of an associate degree in nursing, with a bachelor’s degree preferred, and licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Essential certifications include Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

Responsibilities

  • Provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients.
  • Utilizes the principles and practices of the nursing process.
  • Delivers safe and effective care.
  • Interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
  • Performs job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, and working outside in temperature extremes.
  • Performs job functions from kneeling positions, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, reaching overhead, performing repetitive motions, using both legs, and reaching in all directions.
  • Lifts and carries up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and lifts/lowers objects up to 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted.
  • Maintains good olfactory sensory function and is qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience.
  • Experience in emergency department setting preferred.
  • Experience with pediatric patients preferred.

$30,000 Sign-On Bonus Available to New Hires with Experience!
