Registered Nurse II | Behavioral Health | Days | PRN
Responsibilities
- Administers medications safely, including psychotropic and PRN medications, in accordance with provider orders, clinical guidelines, and facility protocols.
- Evaluates medication effectiveness and monitors for side effects or adverse reactions, initiating appropriate follow-up.
- Provides patient education regarding medications and treatment adherence.
- Accurately and timely documents medication administration and patient response.
Safety & Compliance
- Oversees patient safety through observation monitoring, rounding compliance, and milieu management.
- Directs and participates in the safe application, monitoring, and documentation of restraint or seclusion interventions when clinically necessary, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Identifies and mitigates environmental risks and responds promptly to safety concerns or behavioral escalations.
- Ensures adherence to hospital policies, CMS regulations, DNV standards, and state requirements.
Collaboration & Communication
- Provides clinical leadership and guidance to LPNs, BHTs, and support staff, including delegation and oversight of care.
- Collaborates with psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, therapists, case management, and nursing leadership to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Participates actively in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and contributes to care planning and discharge planning.
- Maintains therapeutic communication with patients, families, and care teams while upholding HIPAA and professional boundaries.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates accountability for clinical practice, decision-making, and patient outcomes.
- Participates in staff huddles, quality initiatives, and continuing education to support clinical excellence.
- Serves as a role model for professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to standards of care.
- Supports unit operations, including admissions, discharges, and patient flow.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Credentials
- Essential: BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS), REGISTERED NURSE (RN)
- Education: ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE
Other Information
- Required: 2+ years related experience
- Associate's degree or equivalent in Nursing
- Current Arizona state or compact state licensure as an RN
- BLS (AHA)
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, or acute inpatient setting.
- Crisis Prevention/Intervention (CPI) or equivalent certification.
