Responsibilities

• Delivers safe patient care utilizing the nursing process.
• Accomplishes assessments, planning, delivering, coordinating, integrating, and evaluating nursing care related to patient needs.
• Supports patients through interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Provides nursing care and services to patients throughout the life span and in various settings consistent with educational preparation.
• Captures, analyzes, and records relevant patient health data accurately, with no more than 3-5 exceptions.
• Analyzes assessment data to identify patient problems, with no more than 2-3 exceptions.
• Identifies expected outcomes individualized to the patient, with no more than 2-3 exceptions.
• Develops a plan of care that describes interventions to attain expected outcomes, with no more than 2-3 exceptions.
• Implements and records interventions appropriate to diagnosis or patient problem, with no more than 3-5 exceptions.
• Evaluates the patient’s progress toward attainment of identified goals, with no more than 2-3 exceptions.
• Directs and supervises patient care provided by LPNs and support personnel 100% of the time according to department guidelines.
• Demonstrates consideration of safety, effective utilization of equipment and materials, and cost in managing patient care, as measured by direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback.
• Functions in charge nurse, group leader, or preceptor roles as determined by co-worker or preceptee feedback and direct managerial observation.
• Writes a progress note that demonstrates an understanding of the patient’s status and progress toward achievement of goals (80-90%).
• Advocates for patients to ensure that care preserves and protects the patient’s autonomy, dignity and rights.
• Delivers care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity, 100% of the time.
• Ensures patients have informed consent signed for indicated procedures, 100% of the time.
• Acts on behalf of patients in an ethical manner 100% of the time.
• Adheres to ANA Code of Ethics for Professional Nurses.
• Acquires and maintains current knowledge and skills in his or her area of practice.
• Provides proof of current licensure validation to supervisor.
• Completes required unit credentialing according to departmental policy by providing documented evidence of completion to supervisor.
• Provides to supervisor evidence of completion of all required training and competency validation.
• Participates in level appropriate number of hours of educational activity, according to pathway, related to job function annually and provides documented evidence of attendance or activity to supervisor.
• Demonstrates clinical problem-solving ability through written exemplar, patient/family feedback, co-worker report or direct managerial observation.
• Participates in quality improvement processes for the department and institution as assigned and as measured by supervisory observation.
• Participates in nursing research.
• Commits to an attitude of inquiry, research-based practice, and the advancement of nursing science as observed by managerial observation.
• Helps to identify clinical problems requiring investigation as measured by co-worker feedback and managerial observation.
• Assists in the collection of data within a structured format as measured by co-worker feedback and managerial observation.
• Pairs with senior nurses to use research findings in clinical practice as measured by co-worker feedback and managerial observation.
• Performs other duties as requested and observed by supervisor or manager.

Requirements

• 2 year / Associate Degree in Nursing, required or...
• Vocational / Technical Diploma Professional Nursing Program, required or...
• 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred

Qualifications

• Minimum one year experience as a Registered Nurse, if experience is not relevant, Registered Nurse II must complete RN residency program, required
• Current NYS license as a Registered Nurse, required
• BLS certification will be required within 6 months
• Other certifications may be needed based on department requirements

Salary Information

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement. Pay Range Minimum USD $41.81/Hr. Pay Range Maximum USD $60.87/Hr.
