Registered Nurse Flex Neurology
About the Role
The Neuroscience Institute's primary neurology ambulatory clinic is located on the Anschutz Campus, with additional neurology services supported across several Network of Care sites in the Denver Metro region. Our team provides comprehensive neurologic care to pediatric patients with a wide range of acute, episodic, and chronic neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions. Neurology ambulatory nurses collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary healthcare team that includes advanced practice providers, registered nurses, medical assistants, EEG/EMG technologists, social workers, and pediatric neurologists, including epileptologists, neuroimmunology specialists, neuromuscular specialists. Together, we coordinate care for patients across the continuum while supporting both diagnostic evaluations and ongoing disease management.
Our clinic cares for children with conditions including, but not limited to:
- Chronic neurologic conditions such as epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, cerebral palsy, neurogenetic syndromes, movement disorders, and neuroimmunologic diseases
- Neurodevelopmental and congenital disorders including developmental delay, autism spectrum disorder with neurological comorbidities, neurometabolic and neurogenetic disorders
- Acute and episodic concerns such as headaches and migraines, seizures, tics, and other new-onset neurological symptoms
As a Neurology Ambulatory Nurse, you will have the opportunity to develop specialized expertise while working with a highly skilled interdisciplinary team. You will be challenged to coordinate complex patient care, assist with diagnostic and procedural support, triage and manage patient needs between visits, and provide ongoing education to patients and families navigating neurologic conditions.
Responsibilities
- Family-Centered Care: Recognize the patient or designee as the source of control and full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for patient's preferences, values, and needs. Delivers patient and family centered care incorporating the nursing process while providing developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive, evidence based care. Actively anticipates changes in patient outcomes/unit needs in the provision of care. Care is guided by the Professional Practice Model throughout the continuum of care. Communicate and advocate patient values, preferences and expressed needs as part of implementation of care plan, evaluation of care and assessment of patient/family learning needs to the interdisciplinary team. Initiates and anticipates individualized care and education for patients/families across the continuum using an interdisciplinary approach.
- Teamwork & Collaboration: Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care. Applies communication practices that minimize risks across transitions of care. Presents own perspective and supporting evidence in patient care and team discussions. - Evidence Based Practice: Integrate best current evidence with clinical expertise and patient/family preferences and values for delivery of optimal health care. Recognizes and communicates the need for revision of hospital and departmental policies procedures, practice guidelines, and/or measures for clinical practice evaluation. Recognizes the standard of care provided by the applicable professional organization and/or association.
- Quality Improvement: Use data to monitor the outcomes of care processes and use improvement methods to design and test changes to continuously improve the quality and safety of health care systems. Utilizes outcome data at the patient level to make care decisions. Participates in the quality improvement activities and uses quality measures to understand individual and unit performance.
- Safety: Minimize risk of harm to patients and providers through both system effectiveness and individual performance. Utilizes and discusses policy, procedures, and guidelines to support practice. Communicates observations or concerns related to unsafe situations that pose a risk to patients, families or the health care team.
- Informatics: Use information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making. Recognizes and applies information and technology of patient and unit outcomes to facilitate communication, clinical decision making, error prevention, and care coordination. Navigates and documents in the EMR to support patient care.
- Leadership: Nurses support organizational goals, advance the nursing profession, and enhance professional development by extending their influence to professional and community groups. Works within scope of practice and delegates according to Nurse Practice Act. Participates in professional governance activities. Seeks opportunities to participate in professional development activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master's Entry to Practice Nursing (MEPN). Applicants with an Associate's Degree in Nursing and who agree to obtain a BSN within three (3) years from their start/hire date may be considered in lieu of a BSN.
- Experience: One (1) year of nursing experience required.
- Licenses & Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) with at least six (6) months left before expiration
- Registered Nurse (RN) License from multistate compact
Pay & Benefits
- Hourly Rate of Pay: $45.40 (dependent on applicant's relevant experience)

Schedule
Flex shift. Orientation will be full-time hours while training and onboarding.
