Registered Nurse - Flex/After-Hours Hospice
About the Role
As a Bluegrass Care Navigators' Hospice Team member, you will be part of a team providing care and support to patients and their families who choose comfort-focused care over curative treatments for terminal illness. Care is delivered where the patient calls home, including private residences, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals, or one of our Hospice Care Centers for more complex needs.

Schedule
- Every other weekend: 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM
- 2 weekday shifts per week: 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Location: Fayette County and Jessamine County
Incentive: $4.00 per hour on-call shift differential pay for shifts after 5:00 PM weeknights and all day for weekend shifts, in addition to base pay.
Responsibilities
The Flex/After-Hours Hospice RN delivers compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals receiving hospice services in a variety of home care settings, including private residences, skilled nursing facilities, or personal care homes. This hybrid role supports continuity of care outside of regular business hours and provides flexible dayshift coverage based on the evolving needs of the hospice team. Responsibilities may include:
- Responding to urgent patient needs
- Managing symptoms
- Supporting new admissions
- Assisting with ongoing case management
This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to work autonomously, professionalism within an interdisciplinary team, and the capacity to provide empathetic care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse through the Kentucky Board of Nursing or a participating Compact State Board of Nursing
- Minimum of one (1) year of general nursing experience preferred; new graduate nurses will be considered
- Strong clinical nursing skills and the ability to maintain professionalism during emotionally challenging situations
- Compassionate, patient-centered care with respect and cultural sensitivity for diverse populations
- Adherence to accepted professional, ethical, and legal standards of nursing practice
- Understanding of and commitment to hospice philosophy and the principles of death and dying
- Current CPR certification
- Licensed driver with an automobile in good working order, insured in accordance with state minimum requirements
