Registered Nurse - Emergency Department - RN - Various Shifts

About the role

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Mayo Clinic Phoenix treats a variety of life-threatening illnesses and is a Magnet accredited hospital with a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Cath Lab available 24/7. The department is equipped with advanced, innovative patient-care equipment and offers opportunities for professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
• Support professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care.
• Function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, including accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
• Delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and availability of resources.
• Possesses excellent communication skills; mentors and teaches; may participate on committees or projects.
• May drive a personal vehicle as part of the role.

Requirements

• Graduate of a baccalaureate nursing program, as recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA.
• If not from an accredited program, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required.
• Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• One year of ED or ICU experience required.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Computer skills required, prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call.
• Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
• Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
