About the Role

Provides professional nursing care for assigned patients according to established standards and practices, supporting the hospital's core mission through high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to the RN - Nursing ANA Code of Ethics, ensuring compassionate, respectful, and safe practice while advocating for patients, families, and the community.
• Assessment and Diagnosis:
  • Collect and prioritize patient data systematically and continuously.
  • Identify issues and develop diagnoses based on assessment data.
  • Establish expected outcomes and plans based on diagnoses.
• Care Planning and Implementation:
  • Develop individualized care plans addressing diagnoses.
  • Ensure continuity of care by directing other team members.
  • Implement the plan safely and timely, documenting changes or omissions.
  • Consult with healthcare providers and make referrals as needed.
  • Utilize community resources to support the care plan.
• Documentation:
  • Submit required information and data in a timely manner.
  • Document processes, policies, and services clearly and accurately.
  • Tailor documentation to the intended audience using correct terminology and format.
• Outcomes and Evaluation:
  • Develop and modify expected outcomes involving the patient, family, and other disciplines.
  • Evaluate the care plan in relation to patient responses and expected outcomes.
  • Document evaluation results.
• Quality Improvement:
  • Apply quality improvement results to enhance nursing practice.
  • Use creativity and innovation to improve care delivery.
  • Incorporate evidence-based knowledge to initiate practice changes.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.
• Neuroscience-Specific Duties:
  • Demonstrate competency in assessing, planning, treating, and evaluating stroke or stroke-like symptoms.
  • Provide stroke-related education to patients and families.
  • Maintain knowledge of stroke performance measures and their impact on outcomes.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care for stroke patients.
  • Complete 4 hours of stroke-related education annually.
• Adhere to hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
• Perform duties in alignment with the organization’s core values, mission, and vision.
• Maintain current knowledge through self-education and ongoing programs.
• Attend staff meetings, complete mandatory in-services, and fulfill competency evaluations on time.
• Demonstrate age-specific competency in patient care based on individual needs.
• Wear protective clothing and equipment as required.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Nursing from a state-accredited school (Required).
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a state-accredited school (Preferred).
• 1 or more years of nursing experience (Preferred).

Qualifications

• Current Georgia Registered Nurse (RN) license (Required).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Crisis Response Training (CPI), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Georgia Stroke Core Curriculum (GSCC) within 180 days of hire (Required).
