Job Duties
- Provides care in a fast-paced, high acuity environment that acts similarly to an advanced urgent care with Physician oversight.
- Patient population will include ages >1 year of age to geriatrics.
- Care will include a large variety of chief complaints.
- Serves in an expanded role and prioritizes tasks and uses critical thinking and clinical judgment to provide urgent care.
- Work collaboratively with provider to triage patient care needs, assess patient needs, plan, and provide nursing care and coordinate follow-up care.
- Exhibits compassionate care during patient-nurse interactions.
- Captures and documents patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and provides basic medical data base for provider, and prepares patient for examinations.
- Performs initial and ongoing patient assessment.
- Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and revises plan of care based upon patient response to interventions.
- Observes, reports, interprets, and records manifestations of the patient’s condition.
- Provides direct patient care including, treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies according to policy and procedure.
- Auxiliaries with provider in performance of procedures as directed by provider to facilitate accurate diagnosis.
- Inserts, monitors, regulates, and discontinues IVs as required by provider.
- Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and completes associated paperwork to expedite laboratory studies with maximum accuracy and efficiency.
- Communicates with lab, radiology, and other testing results to patients and via telephone and electronic medical record letter notification.
- Formulates, coordinates, and provides plan of care as established in department standards including, patient and family education, family needs and discharge planning throughout office visit.
- Actively participates as a team member working toward team goals of the department and organization and is accountable for unit and system specific metrics.
- Provides instruction to ensure patient's understanding of medical condition and compliance with treatment instructions.
