Care Partner-Medication Aide

About the role

Burcham Hills is an upscale senior living retirement community in East Lansing, MI, near Michigan State University. We are seeking a Medication Aide/Caregiver to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Provide residents with non-skilled nursing services in accordance with physician’s orders, including administering medications and treatments.
• Monitor residents for medication interactions and side effects, and report any occurrences to the nurse.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of residents' records, including medication distribution, incidents, and observations.
• Observe and document the health and emotional condition of each resident, reporting any changes to the supervisor.
• Assist with transporting residents, lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting them as needed.
• Assist residents with daily oral, eye, and ear care, toileting, bathing, dressing, undressing, and hygiene activities.
• Change dressings, bandages, binders, and bedding as instructed.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 months related experience and/or training in direct service with older adults, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• CNA or nursing coursework completed is preferred.
• Knowledge of dementia, particularly Alzheimer’s type, is helpful.
• Ability to work extended or flexible hours, as necessary.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
• Willingness to handle difficult situations involving residents.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Pass a background check.

Pay

$15 - $17 per hour based on experience.

Schedule

Full or Part Time schedules available, including shifts from 6:00am to 2:00pm, 6:00am to 6:30pm, 2:00p to 10:00pm, 6:00pm to 6:30am, and 10:00pm to 6:00am.
