About the Role

Responsible for overseeing the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the Family Medicine Clinic. Directs and coordinates nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards, supervises immediate personnel on the unit, and handles some managerial responsibilities. Collaborates with other RN Charges to drive clinic best practices and coordinate clinic patient and process flows across the clinic. Works with healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care while achieving the best possible patient outcomes. Serves as a resource person as needed. Applies age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care. Supports Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation’s mission statement. Responsible for the care of all patients from birth to elderly.

Responsibilities

• Oversee patient care delivery using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
• Direct and coordinate nursing care based on established nursing practice standards.
• Supervise unit personnel, including unit secretaries, PCTs, CMAs, LPNs, and RNs in collaboration with the Director.
• Collaborate with other RN Charges to establish and maintain clinic best practices and coordinate patient and process flows.
• Work with healthcare professionals to ensure quality, cost-effective, and efficient care.
• Serve as a resource for clinical and operational questions.
• Administer treatments, medications, interpret diagnostic tests, provide patient/family education, and collaborate with other professions.
• Review resumes and assist in acquiring agency or traveling nursing staff.
• Apply age-specific and culturally sensitive care for all patients from birth to elderly.

Requirements

• Completion of a nursing program from an NLN-approved institution (BSN preferred).
• 4 years of charge experience in a Clinic or Urgent Care facility.
• Current, unrestricted license as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Alaska.
• Current BLS certification.
• Ability to pass and maintain competencies for this position.

• Theoretical knowledge of the nursing process, care management, and continuity of care.
• Basic mathematical skills, including computation of rates, ratios, percentages, and interpretation of graphs.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Supervises unit secretaries, PCTs, CMAs, LPNs, and RNs in collaboration with the Director.

Pay

Minimum hourly pay: $53.43.

Schedule

• Full-time, 80 hours per two-week pay period (40 hours per week).
• Non-exempt (eligible for overtime).
