About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN), Correctional Facility serves as a designated member of the institution’s Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), an interdisciplinary team established pursuant to departmental policy. The incumbent provides emergent, in-person crisis assessment and intervention services to patients experiencing acute psychiatric distress, including suicidal ideation, self-injurious behavior, psychosis, severe mood or anxiety symptoms, trauma-related symptoms, and behavioral decompensation. Services are delivered as close to the patient’s housing unit as operationally feasible, in collaboration with mental health clinicians, custody supervisory staff, and in consultation with psychiatry.

The CIT RN organizes and provides necessary nursing care in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and program requirements in a variety of correctional health care settings. In collaboration with the health care team, the RN ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients and coordinates interdisciplinary communication to promote continuity of care. The role addresses the ongoing health care needs of patients and promotes the timely, efficient, and appropriate use of health care resources.

Responsibilities

• Organize and provide nursing care in correctional health care settings in accordance with policies and regulations.

• Address ongoing health care needs of patients and promote efficient use of health care resources.

Pay

Effective July 1, 2025, the base salary for this position will be reduced by 3% due to the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025), with employees receiving 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries listed do not reflect this reduction. Part-time and permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis.
