About the role
The position is a licensed professional responsible for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The role utilizes the nursing process as the basis for clinical practice.
Responsibilities
- Affirms patient safety and quality care through assessment, guidance, and facilitation of workflow on the unit.
- Assumes patient assignments when necessary and assigns staff based on patient acuity, continuity of care, and staff competency.
- Mentors staff, float, and agency personnel, integrating them into the unit’s culture and providing clinical resources.
- Functions as a leader and role model, acting as a clinical resource and monitoring nursing care provided to each patient.
- Maintains awareness of Joint Commission standards, state codes, and practice acts, and ensures compliance with documentation and rapid turn-around cycles.
- Communicates and collaborates with bed placement and the clinical resource to ensure clinical placements are expedited.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Washington.
- Successful completion of a graduate nurse residency program orientation or six months' experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Two years' practice in clinical nursing/leadership in area of responsibility preferred.
- One year of experience in Critical Care, PACU, or Emergency Services.
- One year of experience in Emergency and/or Critical Care nursing.
- One year of experience in Emergency nursing preferred or successful completion of ED residency.
- One year of experience in Endoscopy, or 1 year med/surg nursing experience.
- One year of experience in Labor & Delivery, or successful completion of labor and delivery residency.
- One year of experience in Medical-Surgical, including 3 months of Med/Surg RN experience or successful completion of a residency program.
- One year of experience in Medical-Surgical, including 8 hours of Neuro education within 12 months of hire and annually thereafter.
- One year of experience in Mother Baby, level II NICU including CPAP, or successful completion of a residency program.
- One year of experience in Neonatal Intensive Care, or successful completion of a NICU residency program.
- One year of experience in Oncology, including successful completion of The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Oncology Fundamentals course within 3 months of hire.
- One year of experience in Perioperative, including completion of PRT orientation within 12 months of hire.
- One year of experience in Surgical Joint/Spine Orthopedic certification within 3 years of hire.
