About the role

The position is responsible for providing safe, quality care to patients in the Critical Care Unit (CCU) at VMC Main Campus. The role requires a BSN and current RN license in the state of Washington. Candidates must also have current BLS certification and experience in a clinical nursing/leadership role.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, guides, directs, and facilitates workflow on the unit.
  • Makes staff assignments based on patient acuity, continuity of care, and staff competency.
  • Mentors staff, float, and agency personnel regarding unit policies, procedures, and annual goals.
  • Functions as a leader and role model for clinical staff.
  • Acts as a clinical resource to unit staff.
  • Maintains awareness of Joint Commission standards, state codes, and practice acts.
  • Maintains fiscal responsibility by monitoring and adjusting staffing during shifts.
  • Communicates and collaborates with bed placement and the clinical resource to ensure clinical placement is expedited.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current RN license in the state of Washington.
  • Successful completion of a graduate nurse residency program orientation or six months' experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current BLS certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Two years' practice in clinical nursing/leadership in area of responsibility preferred.
  • One year of experience in Critical Care, PACU, or Emergency Services.
  • Preferred experience in perianesthesia, admit & discharge or 1 year med/surg nursing experience.

Hourly rate range: Min $48.82 - Max $89.19/hrly. DOE
