About the Role
The RN-Critical is responsible for performing assessments, developing and implementing a plan of care, and evaluating patient outcomes. This role administers medications and treatments as ordered by physicians, directs and monitors care provided by non-licensed personnel, and leads the interdisciplinary care team for patients with primarily cardiovascular disease. Additionally, the RN-Critical performs technical services such as patient specimen testing, quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Provides competent direct care and ensures a safe, comforting environment for high patient satisfaction.
- Educates patients, families, and significant others, incorporating population-specific criteria and readiness to learn.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to standard precautions.
- Documents all necessary patient care information accurately.
- Facilitates discharge planning in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to use necessary patient care equipment.
- Coordinates the interdisciplinary team’s response to emergency situations.
- Performs Point-of-Care procedures in a timely manner according to policy and documents required information while complying with quality control standards.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Registered Nurse with current state licensure or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact.
- BLS certification required prior to providing direct patient care.
- Successful completion of ACLS certification required by the end of clinical orientation; certifications must be renewed by the recommended renewal date.
