About the role

Provides comprehensive nursing care in a high-acuity CVICU environment, serving as a primary or accountable nurse based on unit needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management
  • Administer medications safely following policies
  • Support resource utilization, including staffing and supplies
  • Ensure compliance with nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and policies
  • Participate in shared governance, quality improvement, peer review, and evidence-based practices
  • Mentor new employees and students
  • Perform Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator duties when assigned
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education
  • Contribute to the Clinical Ladder Program as expertise develops

Education & Certifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Preferred: BSN and clinical experience in acute or ambulatory care
  • Minimum: Current NY State RN license
  • Preferred: CCRN and additional certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC)

Work Environment & Patient Demographics

Operates in clinical and patient care areas, serving patients of all ages, with exposure to various equipment and infection control protocols.
