About the Role
Provides advanced perioperative nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in complex cardiovascular, thoracic, and surgical cases. Offers nursing leadership, mentorship, and expert clinical judgment to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Performs comprehensive preoperative assessments, plans, implements, and evaluates individualized care plans, adjusting interventions as needed. Coordinates and delegates patient care to staff, considering competency, environmental factors, and safety protocols. Communicates effectively with patients, staff, and physicians to address needs and resolve care-related issues.
Maintains and advances clinical skills through ongoing learning, staying informed of current surgical nursing techniques and technologies. Serves as a nursing consultant, teaching and mentoring less experienced personnel. Applies evidence-based practices to deliver age-specific and clinical patient care.
Demonstrates advanced clinical judgment in specialized surgical settings and initiates process improvements. Performs physical tasks including frequent lifting, movement, and patient handling, maintaining safety and alertness.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Minimum of one year of advanced surgical nursing experience.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Valid RN license in applicable states or compact license, with state-specific licensing requirements.
