Job Summary

The Cardiac Rehabilitation RN provides specialized nursing care to patients recovering from cardiac events such as heart attacks, surgeries, or chronic cardiovascular conditions. This role focuses on promoting heart health through patient education, supervised exercise, lifestyle modification, and emotional support.

Job Duties

  • Assess patients’ physical and emotional readiness for cardiac rehab programs, post surgery and throughout their outpatient program.
  • Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians, exercise physiologists, and dietitians.
  • Monitor patients during exercise sessions, including vital signs and ECG readings.
  • Educate patients and families on heart-healthy lifestyle changes, medication adherence, and risk factor management.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for patients during all phases of the rehab program.
  • Provide emotional support and counseling to help patients cope with lifestyle changes and recovery.
  • Document patient progress and communicate updates to the interdisciplinary team.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with best practices in cardiac care.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Required 2 years clinical experience.
  • Licenses and Certifications: RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure. Must be licensed to practice as a RN in the state of MS. Upon Hire Required. CPR - Must maintain a current AHA CPR Certification. Upon Hire Required. ACLS - Requirement is dependent on hiring department. Upon Hire Required. Pulmonary Rehab Cert - Within 1 year preferred. CCRP - Within 1 year required.
  • Work Experience: 1-3 years of experience in clinical and/or healthcare setting. Required 2 years minimum experience in clinical and/or healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Must maintain department requirements for continuing education and any specific unit requirements to provide appropriate age-specific care. Selection Required.
