Join an innovative, patient-focused culture dedicated to improving the health and quality of life for the communities we serve. This position establishes, organizes, directs, and implements the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program in accordance with Federal, State, and local guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients with a wide variety of cardiac disabilities in an outpatient setting to achieve risk factor reduction in cardiovascular disease through therapeutic exercises, activities, and educational classes.
- Document all patient care appropriately in the medical record to comply with department policies and JCAHO requirements.
- Conduct orientation and initial assessment of participants in the cardiac rehabilitation program.
- Develop plans of care for new participants and document initial assessment, daily participant information, and progress.
- Lead and/or delegate participant education sessions based on staff expertise and identified participant needs.
- Develop and maintain current educational materials for patient education.
- Assess participants pre-, during, and post-exercise.
- Supervise exercise sessions and/or delegate based on staff experience.
- Obtain monthly required approval of individualized treatment plans from the program medical director, per Medicare guidelines.
- Monitor participants for inappropriate or abnormal responses to exercise and make appropriate referrals or recommendations.
- Report significant participant conditions (e.g., dysrhythmias, abnormal blood pressure response) immediately to the supervising physician.
- Initiate ACLS measures and/or emergency care according to facility policy.
- Check AED equipment and other emergency supplies for proper function and adequate supply.
- Set up and supervise emergency drills and mock codes, providing feedback and constructive criticism.
- Optimize reimbursement for cardiac rehabilitation services through effective communication with staff.
- Coordinate and/or maintain the Continuous Quality Improvement program and participate in quality reporting.
- Maintain current knowledge in cardiac rehabilitation through literature, in-services, continuing education, and conferences.
- Coordinate routinely occurring meetings, including organizing guest speakers, education, food, and public communications.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required).
- All RNs hired without a BSN must enroll in a bachelor’s prepared nursing program within 4 years of hire and complete it within 10 years (RNs licensed on or before 12/19/17 are exempt).
- Minimum 1 year of relevant cardiac experience (preferred).
- Current NYS License as a Registered Nurse (required).
- Current BLS CPR and ACLS certifications (required).

Physical Requirements
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly to move objects.

Pay
Salary is based on qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and industry standards.
Pay Range: $97,760.00 – $113,443.20 per year.
