About the role

The incumbent plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. They also assume charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Affirms patient care needs through assessment
  • Organizes appropriate patient care based on identified needs
  • Facilitates a safe environment for patients
  • Maintains required competencies
  • Functions as charge nurse as assigned
  • Records patient care accurately and comprehensively
  • Administers medication as directed by physicians
  • Recognizes and addresses life-threatening situations promptly
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with interdisciplinary teams
  • Maintains quality of care through monitoring and adherence to outcome-oriented indicators
  • Participates in cost containment efforts and ensures accurate billing for patient services
  • Adapts care based on age-specific needs of patients
  • Supports patients in practicing their cultural and spiritual beliefs within the context of medical regimen

Requirements

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Associates Degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure

Qualifications

  • Education and formal training: Associates Degree in Nursing or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Experience: Acute Cardiac Disorders, Cardiac Dysrhythmia Requiring Drug Therapy/Adjustment, Pre and Post Surgery Requiring Telemetry Monitoring, Post-CT surgery
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English; Positive interpersonal skills; Effective organizational and leadership skills; Knowledge of age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of patients typically served
