Summary

Minimum Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Nursing or equivalent required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
- Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure
Unit Description
6VP is a Progressive Adult ICU unit with 48 beds. Our Care team includes Registered Nurses, a Clinical Educator, Nursing Assistants, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Case Managers, Physical Therapists, Dieticians, and Occupational and Speech Therapists. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:4 but may vary. We treat acute Adult and Geriatric patients.

- Administer Critical Drips
- Diabetic Ketoacidosis
- Acute Renal Failure
- Sepsis
- Post Surgical/Trauma
- Post Cerebrovascular Accident
- Pre and Post Cardiac Cath Procedures
- Post Myocardial Infarction
- Cardiac Dysrhythmia Requiring Drug Therapy
- Pre and Post Angioplasty and Stent Placement
- Pre and Post AICD/Pacemaker placement
- Treat total body system disorders
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
- Verbal and written skills required
- Effective organizational and leadership skills
- Knowledge of age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of patients
Physical Requirements
- Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
- Visual acuity for observation of patients
- Standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
- Able to lift 35 pounds
