Responsibilities
- Act as an advocate, educator, and counselor for breast disease oncology patients, ensuring comprehensive care coordination throughout the treatment continuum.
- Provide expert nursing care, including consultation, direct clinical practice, patient education, and research support.
- Implement a nurse navigator model to educate patients and families, facilitate seamless care, and reinforce disease-related knowledge.
- Serve as the primary contact for patients and families, coordinating tests, procedures, appointments, and treatment plans.
- Act as a liaison among patients, families, and healthcare team members to promote integrated, timely, and compassionate care.
- Mentor staff, participate in policy reviews, and lead quality improvement initiatives.
- Engage in research and community education efforts to promote early detection and prevention.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of 1 year clinical oncology experience.
- Registered Nurse license (Illinois required).
- Certification as a Certified Breast Care Nurse (CBCN) and AHA Heartsaver CPR required; AOCNS preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills, organization, and effective communication abilities.
