About the role
The Breast Navigator RN acts as an advocate, educator, and coordinator for breast disease oncology patients, ensuring comprehensive and seamless care.
Responsibilities
- Provide age-appropriate nursing care, education, and support to patients and families.
- Implement the nurse navigator model, guiding patients through diagnosis and treatment.
- Coordinate tests, procedures, and treatments; act as liaison among patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Support patients' decision-making and connect them to resources and clinical trials.
- Participate in research, quality improvement initiatives, and policy development.
- Engage in community outreach, health fairs, and staff education to promote breast health awareness.
- Mentor staff, review policies, and promote early detection programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required; Master's preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of clinical oncology experience.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Certified Breast Care Nurse (CBCN) certification required; Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Specialist preferred.
- CPR certification required.
