REGISTERED NURSE: Ambulatory Care Services (Rogel Cancer Center Infusion Clinic)

Responsibilities

• Accountable for the delivery of direct patient care, including patient education and the management of chemotherapy, biotherapy and immunotherapy administration.
• Supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.
• Assesses the needs of the patient undergoing infusion treatment; plans, implements, and evaluates patient care.
• Teaches patients, families, orients colleagues and peers.
• Administers injections, IV hydration, blood products, and chemotherapy, biotherapy and immunotherapy.

Expectations:

• Demonstrated ability to start IVs, access ports and maintain vascular access.
• Demonstrated ability to practice independently, set goals, promote teamwork, coordinate and perform multiple activities and problem solve as measured by interview, references, and performance evaluations.
• Demonstrated ability to set and implement priorities, organize and delegate effectively and efficiently.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate well with others (including peers).
• Demonstrate abilities in interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills and problem-solving skill within all levels of the health care team.

Requirements

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse to practice in the State of Michigan.
• Two (2) years or more of RN experience.
• Two (2) or more years of recent (within the last three (3) years) RN experience administering chemotherapy, biotherapy and Immunotherapy.
• Two (2) or more years of recent (within the last three (3) years) hematology/oncology RN experience.

Qualifications

Desired Qualifications:

• BSN.
• Recent Ambulatory Care Experience.
• Demonstrated ability to start IVs.
• Certification by Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI).
• Experience with electronic medical records, specifically EPIC.
• Computer/typing skills such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

Pay

• Hourly range for Registered Nurses: $41.78-$64.81/hour.
• Evening Shift Differential: $3.00/hour.
• Night Shift Differential: $4.00/hour.
• Day Shift Weekend Differential: $2.90/hour.
• Evening Shift Weekend Differential: $5.90/hour.
• Night Shift Weekend Differential: $6.90/hour.
• Charge Nurse Differential: $1.00/hour.

This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C. Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire. Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.

Schedule

• Hours: 36 hrs/week (0.9).
• Shift: Day/Evenings, variable days of the week. This position includes weekends and some holidays. Variable shift lengths. Flexibility is required.
• The standard hours of operation for the Cancer Center Infusion Center are Monday through Friday 7:30am - 8:30pm and Saturday 7:30am - 6pm, with extended hours for continued patient care.
• Location and home unit is the Rogel Cancer Center.
• All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union.
