REGISTERED NURSE: Ambulatory Care Services (Pediatric Infusion)

About the Role

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage multiple interventions simultaneously.
• Complete 12 Hematology/Oncology CEUs annually or maintain professional certification in oncology (e.g., CPHON, OCN, BMTCN, Infusion Nurse Certification).
• Participate in developing department goals and objectives by attending staff meetings, in-service programs, continuing education opportunities, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrate critical thinking using the nursing process, problem-solving skills, and the ability to set priorities.
• Exhibit customer service and interpersonal communication skills to build respectful relationships across units and individuals.
• Manage complex clinical issues using assessment skills, protocols, and evidence-based interventions.
• Actively support performance improvement activities related to self, clinic, department, and institutional goals.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Current license in the State of Michigan as a Registered Nurse.
• At least one (1) year in the last five (5) years of experience in one of the following: intensive care unit, emergency room, Hematology/Oncology, or as a Registered Nurse in an infusion setting.
• At least one (1) year of pediatric experience in the last 5 years.
• One (1) year in the last five (5) years of demonstrated proficiency with documentation in an electronic health record (e.g., Epic).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as evidenced by resume, annual evaluations, and references.
• Demonstrated accountability, dependability, adaptability to changing priorities, and proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.

Qualifications (Desired)

• BSN degree.
• Recent Hematology/Oncology RN experience within the last five (5) years.
• One (1) year in the last five (5) years of experience administering chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, cell and gene therapy, or blood products.
• Professional nursing certification (e.g., CPHON, BMTCN, or Infusion Certification).
• One (1) year of experience in an ambulatory care setting or with ambulatory care infusion.
• Demonstrated ability to start peripheral IV access.

Schedule

• 40 hours per week.
• Day shift, Monday through Friday, with 8- or 9-hour shifts (hours of operation: 7:30 AM–6:30 PM).
• Flexibility required; weekend and holiday shifts may be necessary.

Location

C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, 7th floor – Pediatric Infusion Center. All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) during times of low census.
