Responsibilities

• Supports the Radiation Oncology team
• Works with likeminded staff who strive to go above and beyond for the patients
• Applies sound judgment, clinical expertise, and executes critical nursing interventions to all populations within the patient care setting
• Conducts patient assessments and develops and implements nursing care plans to foster quality outcomes
• Daily routines include: Patient communication, education and triage, Coordination of patient-physician visits, Addressing medication needs, Interpreting lab values and pathology, Knowing treatment regimens, nursing indications and understanding adverse reactions, Building a relationship with the physician and other key players of the oncology team, Assisting pediatric and adult patients for radiation treatments under sedation

Requirements

• Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice
• BLS certification is required
• Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice
• One year experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred
• Experience in the clinical area for which he or she is applying is desired
• Maintains clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which they work as demonstrated through annual validations
