About the role
The Capacity Management Nurse plays a key role within a centralized team that coordinates patient placement across the hospital system in a highly dynamic environment. While not a bedside role, the nurse relies on clinical expertise and systems thinking to ensure patient safety and capacity efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Monitor bed availability across the hospital system
- Support patient transfers and admissions
- Respond to emergencies
- Serve as a clinical and operational resource in a 24/7 setting
- Collaborate with nursing leadership, physicians, transfer centers, emergency departments, inpatient units, and operational staff
- Maintain reports and ensure compliance with EMTALA
- Participate in quality improvement activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (preferred)
- NC RN licensure
- BCLS certification
- Five years of experience (desired)
