Registered Nurse - 5D Cardiac Step Down-Evening/Night

About the role
As a Registered Nurse, you will work on our remodeled 24-bed unit where teamwork and exceptional patient care are at the heart of everything we do. On 5D, you'll care for a diverse patient population, including cardiac, respiratory, mental health, and general medical cases. With great patient ratios and a collaborative approach to healthcare, we ensure a supportive environment where you can thrive.
Up to a $25,000 sign-on bonus for qualified Registered Nurses (terms of payment may vary based on experience). This is a full-time position with weekend and holiday rotation required.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients with a variety of needs.
- Use a person-centered care approach in the development of care, and effectively prioritize patient needs that are both expected and unanticipated.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills to interact with other healthcare professionals and patients.
- Demonstrate competence and resourcefulness in the implementation of the technical skills required to care for the patient.
- Demonstrate initiative in remaining current in the organization and department policies, procedures, and standards.
- Evaluate effectiveness of care giving, show follow-through on delivery, demonstrate critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, proactively address actual and potential problems, and execute compliant clinical documentation.
- Assist with educating patients and families and serve as a resource on department standards for patient care.
Requirements
- Current NYS Registered Nursing license.
- 1 year RN experience preferred; graduated nurses welcome to apply.
- Must obtain BLS and ACLS certification prior to completion of the introductory period.
Physical Demands
- Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of computer keyboard).
- May require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions.
- Stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers).
- Sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary.
- Must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
