Location: Johnson City, TN – Department of Health, Washington County. This position requires a criminal background check.
Pay
$6,544 – $8,454 per month ($78,528 – $101,448 annually).
Schedule
Full-time. May be assigned to workdays, evenings, nights, and/or weekends in a health care setting.
Qualifications
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or holds a privilege to practice in the State of Tennessee under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- Valid motor vehicle operator license may be required.
- One of the following combinations of education and experience:
- Three years of registered nursing experience.
- Diploma in registered nursing from an accredited school of nursing or bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university, plus two years of registered nursing experience.
- Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university, plus one year of registered nursing experience.
Driver record must meet State of Tennessee standards: no DUI, reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, or more than four moving violations in the past five years.
About the Role
Under general supervision, performs advanced registered nursing duties of considerable difficulty. Provides nursing care involving assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. May supervise less experienced nursing staff and/or have clinical responsibility for one or more units. May function in a non-supervisory capacity for specialized work such as coordinating regional/statewide programs, serving as a subject-matter expert, or operating as a Charge Nurse/Floor Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Oversees application of nursing techniques in patient care and treatment to ensure efficient work activities.
- May function in a lead or subject-matter expert capacity, coordinating nursing programs or acting as Charge Nurse/Floor Supervisor.
- Advises less experienced nursing staff on policies, procedures, and performance improvement methods.
- Identifies developmental needs of employees and writes instructions for specified nursing care operations.
- Provides nursing care and procedures according to physician orders and nursing protocol, including:
- Administering medication and evaluating side effects and overall effectiveness.
- Maintaining health care equipment and supplies.
- Tracking drugs and instruments.
- Performing basic life support, CPR, and participating in emergency response settings.
- Evaluates and adjusts nursing plans of care; reviews records for accuracy and completeness.
- Resolves disputes among employees following organizational policies and implements corrective measures as needed.
- Assigns work plans to staff and prepares written work schedules.
