Qualifications
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or holds a privilege to practice in the State of Tennessee under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- A valid motor vehicle operator license may be required.
Overview
Under general supervision, this role involves registered nursing duties of average difficulty based on a wide range of circumstances. This is the working-level class in the Registered Nurse sub-series. Assignments may include days, evenings, nights, and/or weekends in institutions, clinics, hospitals, home care, or other health care settings.
Responsibilities include nursing assessment and diagnosis, care planning, implementation/intervention, and evaluation. This role differs from Registered Nurse 3, which involves clinical responsibility for nursing units, statewide program coordination, or supervisory duties.
Responsibilities
- Provides nursing care and procedures according to physician orders and nursing protocol, including administering medication, evaluating side effects, maintaining health care equipment and supplies, and tracking drugs and instruments.
- Performs basic life support, CPR, and participates in emergency response settings.
- Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessments, collecting health history data and performing diagnostic tests on specimens to determine health status.
- Compares assessment data to established ranges to identify abnormalities and evaluates the effectiveness of patient goals and interventions.
- Documents and maintains patient health and medication records, adjusting care plans as needed.
- Explains tests, procedures, and results to patients, families, and other stakeholders.
- Educates patients, families, groups, and others on health care plans.

Driver Requirements
- A valid driver’s license.
- No record of the following violations in the past five years: DUI, reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, or more than 4 moving violations.
Pay
Monthly: $4,562.00 – $5,694.00
Annual: $54,744.00 – $68,328.00
Schedule
Full-time; may include days, evenings, nights, and/or weekends.
