Qualifications

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or holds a privilege to practice in the State of Tennessee under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • A valid motor vehicle operator license may be required.

Overview

Under general supervision, is responsible for registered nursing duties of average difficulty based on a wide range of circumstances. This is the working-level class in the Registered Nurse sub-series. Employees may be assigned to work days, evenings, nights, and/or weekends in an institution, clinic, hospital, home care, or other health care setting.

This role provides registered nursing care, including nursing assessment and diagnosis, nursing care planning, implementation/intervention, and evaluation. Differs from Registered Nurse 3 in that this role does not include clinical responsibility for nursing units, statewide program coordination, or supervisory duties.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care and procedures according to physician orders and nursing protocol, including administering medication, evaluating side effects, maintaining health care equipment and supplies, tracking drugs and instruments, and performing basic life support and CPR.
  • Performs initial and ongoing patient assessments, collecting health history data and diagnostic tests on specimens to determine health status.
  • Compares assessment data to established acceptable ranges to identify abnormalities and evaluates the effectiveness of patient goals and interventions.
  • Documents, completes, and maintains patient health and medication records; adjusts plans of care as needed.
  • Explains tests, procedures, and results to patients, families, and other stakeholders according to protocol.
  • Educates patients, families, groups, and others on health care plans.

Driver Requirements

For positions involving driving responsibilities:

  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Pay

Monthly: $4,562.00 - $6,825.00
Annually: $54,744.00 - $81,900.00

Schedule

Full-time. May include days, evenings, nights, and/or weekends.
