About the Role
The Registered Dietitian II provides individualized medical nutrition therapy, education, and counseling to patients, serving as a clinical leader in a specialized area. They collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize nutrition care and improve patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients for nutritional deficiencies and perform physical exams.
- Evaluate nutritional needs, including calories, protein, fluids, and electrolytes, to diagnose malnutrition.
- Manage nutrition plans for patients on oral diets, tube feedings, or parenteral nutrition, and write related orders.
- Provide counseling and education on disease management through nutrition therapy.
- Collaborate with providers and coordinate follow-up and documentation.
- Support educational programs and serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns and technicians.
- Contribute to departmental initiatives, committees, and projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
- Completion of a Dietetic Internship or Credentialed Program.
- Current Ohio Licensed Dietitian and active RD/RDN certification.
- Board Certification as a Nutrition Support Clinician or Certified Specialist in Pediatrics within two years.
- At least one year of clinical nutrition experience; or completion of an equivalent internship.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to perform physical assessments and navigate hospital settings.
- Follows standard precautions and uses personal protective equipment as required.
- Complies with vaccination policies and workplace safety standards.
