About the role
The AdventHealth Health Optimization Center at Celebration is seeking a skilled Nutrition Services Professional to join our dynamic team. This role involves completing nutrition-focused physical assessments, evaluating patient data, offering interventions, and collaborating with healthcare providers.
Responsibilities
- Completes nutrition-focused physical assessments, takes measurements, reviews medical records, collects data via interviews, and evaluates anthropometric status.
- Evaluates assessment data to identify nutrition risks, nutrition problems, criteria consistent with malnutrition, knowledge deficits, and high-risk health behaviors.
- Offers nutrition interventions, education, counseling, and referrals to other services.
- May place feeding tubes or perform indirect calorimetry studies.
- Provides counseling and education using evidence-based techniques that reflect appropriate health literacy and cultural sensitivity to patients with disease processes requiring nutritional management.
- Maintains and evaluates nutrition care plans to reach nutrition goals and promote optimal outcomes.
- Supervises practice experience for dietetic interns, dietetic technicians, registration eligible dietitians and new employees, participates in research, performance improvement, and initiatives.
- Enters complete, accurate, and timely electronic health record documentation.
- Enters nutrition orders when authorized by Medical Staff policy and procedure to reflect patient care.
- Promotes evidence-based nutrition care and makes expertise available to foodservice areas.
- Promotes patient care by providing timely responses to internal electronic communication.
Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Comprehensive knowledge and application of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy.
- General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, e-mail, and spreadsheet software.
- Ability to search the web for nutrition research or practice updates and apply knowledge to updating reference materials, preparing for presentations, education, etc.
- Avails self to staff on units as the nutrition expert.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
- Attends interdisciplinary meetings and rounds on assigned units as scheduled unless valid excuse demonstrated.
- Attends assigned team and/or committee meetings unless valid excuse demonstrated.
- Assists in regulatory survey preparation when applicable.
- Reviews and/or updates department resource/reference materials when applicable or required.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge and application of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy.
- Ability to analyze and interpret reliable assessment data to identify nutrition problems.
- Ability to provide appropriate interventions based on identified patient goals.
- Ability to identify and follow through with complex discharge planning needs.
- Ability to adhere to reassessment timelines and implement changes as necessary.
- Understanding of indications for nutrition support therapy (both enteral and parenteral).
- Ability to work with an electronic health record system.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nutrition or related field [Required]
- Master's degree in nutrition or related field [Preferred]
- 3+ years of experience in a clinical setting [Required]
- Didactic program with a strong focus in clinical nutrition [Preferred]

Pay Range
