About the role

The AdventHealth Health Optimization Center at Celebration is seeking a skilled Nutrition Services Professional to join our dynamic team. This role involves completing nutrition-focused physical assessments, evaluating patient data, offering interventions, and collaborating with healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

• Completes nutrition-focused physical assessments, takes measurements, reviews medical records, collects data via interviews, and evaluates anthropometric status.
• Evaluates assessment data to identify nutrition risks, nutrition problems, criteria consistent with malnutrition, knowledge deficits, and high-risk health behaviors.
• Offers nutrition interventions, education, counseling, and referrals to other services.
• May place feeding tubes or perform indirect calorimetry studies.
• Provides counseling and education using evidence-based techniques that reflect appropriate health literacy and cultural sensitivity to patients with disease processes requiring nutritional management.
• Maintains and evaluates nutrition care plans to reach nutrition goals and promote optimal outcomes.
• Supervises practice experience for dietetic interns, dietetic technicians, registration eligible dietitians and new employees, participates in research, performance improvement, and initiatives.
• Enters complete, accurate, and timely electronic health record documentation.
• Enters nutrition orders when authorized by Medical Staff policy and procedure to reflect patient care.
• Promotes evidence-based nutrition care and makes expertise available to foodservice areas.
• Promotes patient care by providing timely responses to internal electronic communication.

Requirements

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Comprehensive knowledge and application of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy.
• General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, e-mail, and spreadsheet software.
• Ability to search the web for nutrition research or practice updates and apply knowledge to updating reference materials, preparing for presentations, education, etc.
• Avails self to staff on units as the nutrition expert.
• Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
• Attends interdisciplinary meetings and rounds on assigned units as scheduled unless valid excuse demonstrated.
• Attends assigned team and/or committee meetings unless valid excuse demonstrated.
• Assists in regulatory survey preparation when applicable.
• Reviews and/or updates department resource/reference materials when applicable or required.

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge and application of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy.
• Ability to analyze and interpret reliable assessment data to identify nutrition problems.
• Ability to provide appropriate interventions based on identified patient goals.
• Ability to identify and follow through with complex discharge planning needs.
• Ability to adhere to reassessment timelines and implement changes as necessary.
• Understanding of indications for nutrition support therapy (both enteral and parenteral).
• Ability to work with an electronic health record system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nutrition or related field [Required]
• Master's degree in nutrition or related field [Preferred]
• 3+ years of experience in a clinical setting [Required]
• Didactic program with a strong focus in clinical nutrition [Preferred]

Pay Range
