Registered Dietitian

About the role

The Registered Dietitian collaborates with the Senior Registered Dietitian, Director of Health Promotion, and café Chef/Manager to provide outreach programs on food, nutrition, and wellness to the university community.

Responsibilities

• Teach, purchase, plan, execute, and oversee demonstrations in the demonstration kitchen.
• Manage all aspects of the demonstration kitchen, including purchasing, event planning, and participant oversight.
• Assist the Senior Registered Dietitian with confidential nutrition counseling, projects, and initiatives.

Qualifications

• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and provide high-level service.
• Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of food production principles and techniques, and ability to instruct interactively while preparing food.
• Significant knowledge of food allergies, related diets, and dietary controls.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and learning new software programs.
• Public speaking proficiency.
• Ability to work independently.

Education & Experience

• Master's degree required.
• Registered Dietitian with the Academy for Nutrition and Dietetics, or RD eligible within 3 months of hire; culinary concentration required.
• One year of experience conducting cooking demonstrations preferred; management experience preferred.
• One year's experience in nutrition counseling is preferred.
• AllerTrain and ServSafe certification required (or obtained within a year of hire).

Working Conditions/Physical Effort

This position is designated as non-essential personnel. It requires periods of standing, walking, stooping, bending, and reaching, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to safely use and operate typical kitchen tools and equipment.

Schedule

Full Time, Exempt. 7.75 hours daily/38.75 hours weekly, some evening hours based on schedule and need.

Pay

Pay Grade 7 ($58,011.00 to $86,299.00)
