About the role
This position assists the Director in menu planning and revision of cycle and holiday menus. It also involves recording diet histories and food preferences, performing nutritional assessments, providing diet instruction, assisting in administrative direction for menu formulation, and coordinating nutritional care.
Responsibilities
- Record diet histories and food preferences by interviewing residents and families.
- Perform standard nutritional assessments; complete MDS data collection tools within designated time periods.
- Provide diet instruction to residents and/or family members on prescribed diets.
- Record periodic nutritional care data in the medical record.
- Review and adjust therapeutic diets to reflect any changes in the daily menu and suggest the use of supplemental feedings when necessary.
- Afford administrative direction for menu formulation, food preparation, and service; establish programs, policies, and procedures that enhance residents' nutritional needs.
- Coordinate inter and intra departmental professional activities to provide optimal nutritional care for residents and serve as a consultant to clinical staff on dietetics and nutrition matters.
- Attend and participate in Care Plan Meetings as designated.
- Maintain and update tray tickets for designated residents.
- Develop and deliver departmental and facility-wide educational programs.
- Ensure that all clinical issues meet and/or exceed Federal, State, and County regulations.
- Maintain rapport with residents, visitors, and family members and provide feedback on the overall resident attitude about food service.
- Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to patients of The Tradition of the Palm Beaches Medical Office as ordered by a physician.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or university; with minimally one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
