About the role

The Registered Behavior Technician is responsible for implementing Applied Behavior Analytic (ABA) programming goals with children with Autism in a clinic-based or in-home environment. The primary skill domains of clinical support include functional communication training, socialization, and addressing challenging behaviors.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate to develop target goals with the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), parent/caregivers, and other members of the clinical team.
  • Implement an instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program for assigned individuals in a 1:1, 1:2, or group format.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, and materials.
  • Participate in staff and treatment team meetings on a regular basis or as assigned.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of individuals served through formal and informal testing at the directive of the clinical supervisor(s).
  • Manage the behavior of individuals served and administer appropriate interventions according to the individualized treatment plan.
  • Document interactions and session summaries within the electronic health record.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and/or routine caregivers prior to and following sessions.
  • Assist in maintaining an organized, clinical environment for individuals served and fellow team members.
  • Track supervision hours to ensure maintenance of the RBT credential.
  • Deliver a minimum of 30 hours of direct intervention service per week.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • One (1) year of working with children with autism or other developmental disabilities preferred, but not required.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions and deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Use of computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet).
  • Current State of Texas Driver License (or licensed in another state with the requirement to obtain a Texas Driver License within three months of employment).
  • Liability insurance required if operating a personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business; must be insurable by Center’s liability carrier if operating a Center vehicle or driving a personal car on Center business.
  • Acceptable driving record.
  • Bi-annual training in CPR and annual training in SAMA (company training provided).
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential (on-the-job training provided if needed; must be completed within 6 weeks of hire date).
