About the role

The Regional Vice President (RVP) for Surgical Devices leads the Surgical Devices Business Unit (SDBU) in their assigned region. This role is accountable for executing the go-to-market strategy and delivering profitable sales growth, primarily for the Advanced Surgical Energy portfolio. The RVP ensures cross-business unit collaboration, particularly with the Surgical Endoscopy business, to align with global business strategies and achieve regional objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously improve the sales team through recruitment, hiring, training, development, motivation, and management.
  • Support the development and execution of annual territory business plans to meet and exceed regional numeric objectives.
  • Manage and influence each sales representative’s daily activities, monthly sales forecasts, and business plan updates through consistent, scheduled field visits.
  • Monitor all regional/territory Salesforce.com activity and evaluate for accuracy and consistency. Deliver timely reporting to demonstrate current forecasting and activity levels.
  • Build and develop clinical, supply chain, and administrative key opinion leaders (KOLs) within the region. Understand their roles, responsibilities, and goals to effectively position Olympus solutions.
  • Utilize Olympus resources (senior leadership, marketing, etc.) to deepen partnerships.
  • Manage the regional expense budget, including participation in local trade shows/events, travel, promotion, and sample expenditures.
  • Strengthen relationships with existing Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs) while proactively identifying and cultivating new business opportunities.
  • Ensure all company assets are carefully managed and maintained.
  • Personally manage and cultivate strategic account and clinical relationships within the region, and support key relationships involving sales representatives and other company personnel.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive needs assessments and business plans for each strategic account to deliver superior value and accelerated profitable growth.
  • Collaborate with peers from other business units to maximize Olympus’s influence in the region.
  • Communicate competitive activities and market opportunities to appropriate internal parties.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of successful single-use medical device sales, sales training, clinical sales support, and/or sales management experience.
  • Proven track record of success in sales and leadership.
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strategic mindset with demonstrated capability to establish a strategic path for achieving regional business objectives.
  • Strong decision-making skills to keep the organization moving forward.
  • Customer focus with consistent engagement and clear understanding of key customer needs.
  • Action-oriented with demonstrated experience driving well-planned initiatives.
  • Ability to drive accountability across the team and take ownership of overall business execution and performance.
  • Experience creating a climate where people are motivated to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Proven ability to develop talent to meet both career and organizational goals.
  • Situational adaptability to adjust approach in real time to shifting market demands.

  • Consistent scheduled field visits with the sales team.
  • Ability to establish, develop, or maintain field contact with key customers, clinicians, researchers, and decision-makers, including travel to customer facilities and onsite support.
  • Adherence to all customer vendor credentialing requirements when visiting medical facilities.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%.

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree or MBA strongly preferred, or equivalent sales/business experience.
  • Prior history managing Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs).

Pay

Total compensation: $155,000 base salary per year plus eligibility for a performance-based commission plan. Commission earnings are not guaranteed and are determined by individual sales performance in accordance with the Sales Incentive Compensation Plan.
