Previous experience with large ag equipment or commercial/turf equipment is welcomed but not required. About the Role

As the Region Sales Manager, you will lead the sales team to embrace and implement the AVE-PLP selling process, fostering a strong, cohesive culture. You will be responsible for achieving regional profitability targets, ensuring sustainable growth across all departments. Your focus will be on driving market penetration, customer retention, and competitive conversions while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. The Region Sales Manager reports to the Director of Retail Sales.

Responsibilities

  • Build and refine the region sales team in alignment with our company DNA and sales culture of motivation, performance, and an “anything is possible” attitude.
  • Lead with technology and deliver clear expectations, motivation, coaching, accountability, and feedback to sales staff through JobTrack reviews.
  • Develop and implement the region’s sales annual operating plan (AOP).
  • Ensure sales staff prioritizes working on customers’ business rather than in the business as service and technology support.
  • Build and maintain a highly professional and motivated sales team.
  • Be accountable for the performance of the region’s sales business in alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Provide key sales initiatives and updates in region tactical review meetings to track progress against wholegoods performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure proper team involvement in customer sales conversations, starting with ROI and performance data before delivering a price.
  • Redirect activities that do not align with organizational best practices, processes, or policies, including CRM utilization.
  • Manage regional discretionary budget to acquire new customers and maintain existing ones (Key Tactical contact with JD TBM).
  • Support the Regional Operations Manager in weekly meetings to discuss progress against operational objectives and strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate and lead monthly in-person sales meetings and daily huddles.
  • Build and maintain open lines of communication between retail locations and functional support teams to ensure customer service and support.
  • Promote programs using customer targeting tools such as EDA data and equity alerts to proactively engage customers through traditional and digital tools.
  • Work closely with the Region Operations Manager to ensure the region delivers on aftermarket operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify performance gaps and deliver potential solutions.
  • Perform other duties as required to ensure the success of AVE-PLP.

Requirements

  • Ability to consistently promote, support, and act in a manner aligned with AVE-PLP’s DNA.
  • Strong knowledge of used equipment values and ability to evaluate properly for trading purposes.
  • Solid communication skills and ability to resolve challenging issues effectively.
  • Extremely organized, sensitive to deadlines, and accessible based on business needs.
  • Knowledge of John Deere and competitive products, agricultural equipment, and farming operational practices.
  • Driven to achieve results with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a high-performance, fast-paced environment without compromising quality.
  • Ability to maintain positive and professional working relationships with peers, management, and support resources, with a commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Knowledge of current financing options to assist customers with securing purchases.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in an agricultural-related major or equivalent experience is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in an agricultural-related role, such as sales, training, or other related work.
  • Prior experience with John Deere technology and equipment is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Requirements

  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • Passing a driving record (MVR), criminal history background check, employment verification, and drug screen is required prior to employment.

Working Environment

The work environment includes regular travel to customer locations, meetings, and other store locations. Occasional outdoor work in extreme weather conditions (hot/cold), walking on uneven terrain, and exposure to insects may occur. There is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level is moderate. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as cold weather gear, eye protection, gloves, and a provided uniform is required. A clean and safety-conscientious work environment is mandatory. Work may involve long hours and overtime during holidays, weekends, and evenings, including rotating on-call responsibilities.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, and walk on unpaved terrain.
  • Ability to talk, reach with arms and hands, and have good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, handle or feel objects, and hear alarms/telephones/normal speaking voice.
  • Moderate physical activity required, including moving and positioning objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
