We are currently seeking a Regional Safety Manager to join our Wagman Heavy Civil Team. Wagman is a fourth-generation, family-owned company with offices in Pennsylvania and Virginia and is headquartered in York, PA. Founded in 1902, Wagman is a nationally recognized leader in the industry. We are a multi-faceted construction firm with major operations in heavy civil, general construction, and geotechnical construction services. Core competencies include design-build, infrastructure, marine construction, modified concrete, grooving and grinding, and geotechnical construction services.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction. This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

Responsibilities

  • Administer EHS Program and ensure compliance with Wagman policies, programs, and procedures, as well as OSHA/MOSH/VOSH regulations.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Project Safety & Health Plan (PSSP) and kickoff meetings.
  • Develop and implement project-specific orientation programs (video, documentation, stickers).
  • Project emergency planning and establish relationships with clinics.
  • Hold weekly meetings and Serious Injury & Fatality (SIF) planning with project teams.
  • Assist with work plans, Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and safety supplies.
  • Complete project inspections and audits in OnBase (SIF and Quarterly Audits).
  • Assist with regulatory inspections and act as liaison with regulatory agencies.
  • Audit projects to ensure safety activity completion, including PSSP, orientation, required training, huddles, buddy program, Toolbox Talks (TBTs), weekly inspections, work plans, AHAs, 90-day reviews, good catch/near miss reporting, heavy equipment operator program, and power tool certification.
  • Provide company and OSHA-required training: aerial lift, forklift, fall protection, excavation/trenching, PRB, respirator, lead, etc.
  • Coach project teams on company safety policies, programs, and processes; hazard anticipation, recognition, and control.
  • Manage incidents and ensure company processes are followed, including completing OnBase Initial Notification of Incident.
  • Assist with incident investigations and ensure completion of forms in OnBase (including photos, witness statements).
  • Facilitate project team meetings for any SIF potential incidents and assist with development of Lessons Learned Bulletins.
  • Ensure proper care for injuries/illnesses in accordance with company processes (Telemed, clinics, ER, etc.).
  • Serve as liaison between injured team members, corporate, and Workers’ Compensation (WC) team (check in with injured team members, facilitate light duty and Return to Work (RTW) with project supervision).
  • Measure effectiveness of programs/processes at the project level (orientation, training, HEO, GC/NM, SIF planning, work plans, AHAs, huddles, weekly inspections, incident trends).

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of construction safety experience, with a preference for heavy highway, civil, or geotechnical.
  • High School graduate or equivalent required; BS in Occupational Safety Management or equivalent technical training and experience preferred.
  • CHST, STS designations preferred.
  • OSHA 30 or OSHA 10 trainer certification.
  • Fall Protection trainer experience.
  • Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • CPR/First Aid Instructor certification preferred.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
  • Open to travel throughout Virginia to job sites.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level.
  • Able to bend, squat, and kneel occasionally throughout a scheduled work shift.
  • Able to climb ladders, if required.
  • Continuous standing and walking required while outside.
  • Able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
  • Working outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot, and humid weather may occur during site visits.
  • Acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing required.

Pay

$90,000 – $110,000 (based on experience)
