About the role

Together with the Regional General Manager, Vice President – Manufacturing and Vice President – Quality & Technical Service, you'll develop and execute actionable plans and priorities to ensure the region adheres to quality control plans, drives compliance with process quality assurance protocols, evaluates and implements corrective actions, and identifies opportunities to assist customers and provide value-added services.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate & implement corrective actions
  • Ensure new technology is successfully implemented & embraced
  • Identify opportunities to assist customers & provide value-added services
  • Partner with corporate resources to ensure ISO procedures are being implemented & followed
  • Participate in trials for region; address "critical-to-quality" factors before runs
  • Ensure corrective action effectiveness & assist plants with identifying quality improvement initiatives
  • Develop & train plant quality team & technical service staff; ensure standard work is in place for each position; identify competency gaps & provide training or resources to correct
  • Direct technical service reps; ensure claims are handled in a timely manner, appropriate corrective actions are implemented, and reps are partnering with plants to resolve problems
  • Evaluate & implement best practices across region
  • Identify opportunities for kaizen events and lead or oversee their effective implementation
  • Identify systemic problems in region, specify projects related to those areas, and follow up to measure progress
  • Review claims set to be denied to ensure research is completed accurately

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy and/or Material Sciences. Master’s in Metallurgy and/or Material Sciences Degree preferred
  • 7-10 years progressive quality management experience in a coil coating setting and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Blackbelt strongly preferred – will be required within 24 months of assuming the position
  • Professional demeanor
  • Communicates well with all levels of management
  • Able to quickly learn new tasks
  • Must be flexible and able to balance priorities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal/negotiation skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Willingness to work in a plant environment
  • Able to travel up to 50% with limited notice
