About the Role

The Regional Nurse Educator develops, reviews, and implements comprehensive training programs for nursing staff, ensuring competence and proficiency in caring for adults with serious and persistent mental illness, substance use disorders, and chronic medical problems. This role designs and delivers training, evaluates effectiveness, and provides ongoing support to meet the unique needs of the patient population. The Regional Nurse Educator collaborates with healthcare professionals to equip nursing staff with the knowledge and skills for high-quality, compassionate, and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and coordinate comprehensive educational programs for nursing staff, including orientation, ongoing curriculum needs, recertification, and continuing education to enhance and maintain knowledge and competencies.
• Ensure all nursing education programs comply with current regulatory requirements and are evidence-based.
• Monitor nursing staff progress in meeting educational goals, maintain training database, and assess and document staff competencies during orientation and annually.
• Collaborate with nursing school programs in the community to provide clinical practice development and placement opportunities for students, including orientation and mentoring during clinical rotations.
• Provide oversight and supervision to Regional Compliance and Accreditation Monitor, assume the role of ERMA Committee chairman, and conduct ERMA Super User Trainings and monthly CPR trainings for all employees.
• Provide one-on-one training for medical and mental health personnel as needed.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing or other healthcare-related field.
• A minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience in psychiatric mental health nursing is required, preferably with an additional two (2) years of educator experience.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Experience in Performance Improvement preferred.
• Must hold a current license as a registered nurse in the state of employment.
