About the role

Full-time, ongoing position based in Alice Springs, NT. Salary: $100,000 p.a. + 12% superannuation.

The Regional Museums and Central Australia Site Manager is responsible for managing daily operations of Megafauna Central, leading the team, and ensuring a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for visitors. The role has a dual focus:

  • Managing the Megafauna Central site, including buildings, grounds, and infrastructure.
  • Overseeing the Regional Museums grant program and serving as the main contact for regional museums and keeping places across the Northern Territory, providing advice and guidance to support the care, management, and promotion of their collections and programs.

The position facilitates workshops and professional development opportunities for the sector and requires travel to regional and remote museums across the Northern Territory to deliver workshops in at least three locations per year. Travel may include charter flights to remote areas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily operations of Megafauna Central, ensuring a high-quality visitor experience.
  • Oversee the Regional Museums grant program, offering support and guidance to regional museums and keeping places.
  • Facilitate workshops and professional development for the regional museums sector.
  • Travel to regional and remote locations to deliver training and support.
  • Manage site infrastructure, including buildings and grounds, to ensure safety and accessibility.
