About the role

We're expanding into the income-restricted and mixed-income housing space and are looking for an experienced leader who's ready to bring that expertise to a company committed to doing it right.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations across a portfolio of affordable and mixed-income communities, serving as Hilltop's internal subject matter expert as we build out this area of our business
  • Ensure portfolio compliance with affordable housing requirements, leasing guidelines, and program regulations across the portfolio
  • Develop and support onsite teams, coaching Community Directors and leasing staff on both operational excellence and the nuances of income-restricted community management
  • Drive financial performance across the portfolio through revenue maximization, disciplined expense management, and accurate reporting
  • Implement and continuously improve site-level operating, maintenance, and cost control procedures in line with Hilltop standards
  • Partner with the corporate team to build out best practices, processes, and training as Hilltop expands its footprint in this space

Requirements

  • Proven multi-site multifamily property management experience with a demonstrated track record of strong operational and financial results
  • Direct, hands-on experience managing income-restricted or mixed-income communities required, including familiarity with leasing restrictions, compliance requirements, and resident eligibility processes
  • Experience with affordable housing programs, such as LIHTC, HUD, or similar, required
  • Strong financial acumen: budgeting, variance analysis, revenue maximization, and accurate reporting
  • A leadership approach that develops people, not just manages them
  • Experience with property management software, preferably OneSite/RealPage
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A self-starter mentality paired with a collaborative, humble approach to leadership
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
  • Travel between Austin, TX and Greater DFW, TX portfolio required
