About the role
As the world’s largest provider of thermal processing services, Bodycote employs thousands of highly skilled staff globally. This safety-sensitive position will provide technical and project direction for equipment and facility installations across all Bodycote S3P NA locations, under the direction of the Senior General Manager and with guidance from the Head of S3P Engineering. Responsibilities include assessing, developing, improving, and implementing equipment maintenance training, preventive maintenance (PM) systems, and basic environmental and safety programs, as well as workflow and cost control.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical assistance for equipment and facility installation projects.
- Supervise field installation and start-up of equipment and facility projects as directed by the Senior General Manager.
- Guide teams to meet current OSHA and environmental standards for general programs.
- Deliver site-specific maintenance training as directed.
- Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements and cost reductions.
- Maintain positive working relationships with equipment manufacturers and vendors to stay current on new equipment capabilities and technological advancements.
- Serve as a communication link across all levels of Bodycote, from corporate management to divisional associates.
- Provide ongoing written and oral communication to the Senior General Manager and Corporate Engineering.
- Work in a manner consistent with the Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Perform other tasks as assigned or dictated by the position.
- Adhere to workplace expectations, including punctuality, following directions, effective collaboration, and accepting constructive feedback.
- Maintain confidentiality of compensation information and proprietary or third-party business data.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident Card Holder (required for ITAR compliance).
- College or technical degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred; high school diploma or equivalent plus 15+ years of industrial maintenance experience required.
- 15+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience in at least three of the following areas: electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or mechanical systems.
- Ability to read equipment schematics and electrical diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical equipment and analytical problem-solving.
- Willingness to expand knowledge through formal training in related areas.
- Proficiency in using systems to record maintenance data and order materials.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Self-directed and capable of managing multi-purpose activities.
Physical & Mental Demands
- Ability to work in a sitting position for extended periods (e.g., at a desk, while driving, or during air travel).
- Manual dexterity for data entry and related tasks.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach as needed.
- Capability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- Potential exposure to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity in an industrial environment.
- Cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Visual acuity for reading documents, computer screens, and files.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone.
- Willingness to travel between North American Bodycote locations and internationally as needed.
