Regional Loss Prevention Investigator

About the role

Lids Sports Group is the largest licensed sports retailer in North America, selling fan and fashion-oriented headwear and apparel across the US and abroad. The Regional Loss Prevention Investigator (RLPI) is responsible for mitigating financial loss through comprehensive investigations, physical inventory audits, and policy compliance reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal and external investigations into theft, fraud, and policy violations, conducting professional interviews to reach successful resolutions.
• Evaluate store records and operational procedures to ensure full compliance with company policies and applicable legal regulations.
• Utilize POS exception-based reporting and analytics software to identify patterns of loss and potential asset exposure.
• Execute full physical inventory audits to verify asset accountability and assess the accuracy of store accounting systems.
• Conduct specialized studies to identify the mechanics of fraud and develop preventative controls to safeguard company property and funds.
• Prepare detailed audit and investigative findings for Regional Directors, District Sales Managers, and HR, providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
• Partner with HR, field leadership, and law enforcement agencies to resolve complex cases and ensure organizational alignment.
• Educate field personnel on loss prevention best practices, operational compliance, and corporate policy and procedures (SOPs).
• Maintain a professional demeanor and provide high-level service in alignment with Lids Sports Group (LSG) standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field; OR an Associate’s degree with 1+ years of relevant experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Professional Interview & Interrogation certification (e.g., Wicklander-Zulawski) required.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage a regional territory with minimal supervision.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency in computer operations, case management software, and security systems.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and active auto insurance.

Physical and Travel Requirements

Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including frequent overnight stays. Ability to stand for up to 80% of the workday; ability to climb ladders and perform overhead tasks. Ability to view a computer screen and operate a keyboard for up to 70% of the workday.
