Regional Environmental Compliance Manager
About the role
The Regional Environmental Compliance Manager partners with the Senior Environmental Manager to plan, direct, and implement environmental programs that promote a safe, positive, and incident-free work environment. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental regulations across the assigned region. The position focuses on compliance monitoring, accurate reporting, and supporting site EHS personnel in the development and implementation of environmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Implement corporate environmental programs with direct accountability for all regional environmental compliance filings.
- Assist the Senior Environmental Manager with compliance analysis related to potential acquisitions.
- Generate environmental reports and maintain permits in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Track and manage regional environmental compliance obligations.
- Oversee environmental activities across all sites within the region to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Partner with environmental, health, and safety team members to ensure compliance tasks and records are properly maintained.
- Educate EHS team members on environmental programs, policies, and procedures through training and ongoing support.
- Provide guidance and support during regulatory inspections and audits.
- Conduct regular environmental audits and provide recommendations to strengthen compliance programs.
- Collaborate with site leadership to reduce environmental risk.
- Respond promptly to environmental compliance inquiries and concerns.
- Investigate environmental incidents and develop corrective action plans.
- Implement, monitor, and improve spill mitigation and emergency response plans.
- Oversee pollution control programs and support waste treatment and recycling procedures.
- Stay informed on environmental regulatory changes and communicate updates to leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Business with environmental concentration, or a related field required.
- 5+ years of environmental compliance experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience supporting environmental compliance within a manufacturing or industrial environment strongly preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 30% throughout the assigned region to support manufacturing facilities, audits, training events, and other business needs.
