About the Role

Reporting to the assigned Campus Vice President(s) and the Foundation Director of Development in a shared role, the Regional Development Officer (RDO) serves as the lead fundraiser in the assigned geographic area on behalf of the Colorado Mountain College Foundation and the College. The RDO will identify, research, cultivate, solicit, and steward individuals, businesses, and grant-making organizations to secure annual fund, programmatic, capital campaign, and/or planned gifts.

This position works in direct and daily partnership with the assigned Campus Vice President(s) and receives fundraising coordination and tracking via the direct supervision of the Director of Development, with the Foundation CEO providing strategic guidance. The RDO will effectively communicate the vision, mission, and funding needs of the College and coordinate donor events in the region.

The RDO will work in tandem with CMC and CMC Foundation leadership to identify and secure appointments with community members, including assisting and collaborating with CMC Foundation Board members and assigned County Trustee(s) as an identifier, connector, and college ambassador with local prospects and community members. The RDO will plan and attend events for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and the community, and may represent the campus(es) in the business community (e.g., Rotary, Chamber) while partnering with the Campus VP(s) on engagements with non-profit and government entities.

Ability to close major (4-6+ figure) gifts and establish collaborative relationships with external community partners is essential. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, flexible, high-energy, and a creative problem-solver with a strong ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, research, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors (individuals, businesses, and grant-making organizations) to secure annual fund, programmatic, capital campaign, and/or planned gifts.
  • Work in partnership with assigned Campus Vice President(s) and the Director of Development to coordinate fundraising efforts and donor tracking.
  • Plan and attend donor events for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship in the assigned region.
  • Communicate the vision, mission, and funding needs of Colorado Mountain College to prospective donors and community members.
  • Collaborate with CMC and CMC Foundation leadership to secure appointments with community members, including working with Foundation Board members and County Trustees.
  • Represent the campus(es) in the business community (e.g., Rotary, Chamber) and partner with Campus VP(s) on engagements with non-profits and government entities.
  • Build and sustain relationships with external community partners to support fundraising goals.
  • Travel frequently within the assigned region, CMC district, and occasionally outside the college footprint.

Requirements

  • Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position (e.g., a bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience, or equivalent education and experience).
  • Minimum of three years of sales, fundraising, and/or community/event organizational experience.
  • Proven direct fundraising experience for donor acquisition and event requests preferred.
  • Experience with Capital or Major Gift Campaigns is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated success as a fundraiser (4-6+ figure gifts) with proven experience in developing strategies for donor identification, retention, and growth.
  • Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of office systems (MS-Office preferred) and fundraising database systems (e.g., Donor Perfect, Raiser’s Edge).
  • Commitment to developing and working within a collaborative environment while ensuring high customer service orientation.
  • Ability to build and sustain helpful working relationships in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, with strong initiative and follow-through to execute projects from start to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize efficiently, work flexibly, and manage multiple projects simultaneously, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong administrative, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be a resident of the State of Colorado or obtain residency within 30 days of hire; all work duties must be performed within the state.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.

Pay

Hiring range: $84,227.22 – $93,585.79 annual salary, depending upon a combination of education and experience. CMC utilizes a wage progression compensation model that accounts for a candidate’s skills and experience. Salary will be set commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
