About the role
Tarkett Sports Construction Central is seeking a Regional Controller – East Region to support our team at Tarkett Sports Construction Central. This role reports directly to the Director of Finance – Design & Construction and serves as a key financial leader supporting multiple entities across the East Region.
Responsibilities
- Lead accounting operations across multiple entities while ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency throughout the East Region.
- Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and financial reporting structure, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, accruals, leases, loans, and intercompany transactions.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including financial statement preparation, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting deliverables.
- Review and approve bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Oversee payroll administration, tax filings, unemployment claims, garnishments, and retirement plan reporting.
- Lead project accounting activities and ensure proper application of percentage-of-completion accounting principles.
- Partner with project managers to ensure project costs, billings, and financial performance accurately reflect project status.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and key financial performance indicators across the region.
- Provide financial analysis and actionable recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with Tarkett Group accounting policies, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
- Maintain audit readiness across all regional entities.
- Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external auditors.
- Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks while strengthening internal control processes.
- Lead, mentor, and develop regional finance team members.
- Establish performance expectations and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support employee development through coaching, training, and knowledge sharing.
- Partner with the Director of Finance – Design & Construction to identify opportunities for process standardization and automation.
- Improve close cycle efficiency and reporting accuracy through technology and best practices.
- Champion consistent accounting, billing, and reporting procedures across all regional entities.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives as the business continues to grow.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- At least 3 years of leadership experience within construction, project-based, or similar industries.
- Experience supporting multi-entity operations and geographically dispersed teams strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with ERP and financial management systems such as Sage, QuickBooks, Foundation, or similar platforms.
- Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, consolidations, and multi-entity accounting environments.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and construction accounting principles, including: Percentage-of-completion accounting, Work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, Revenue recognition, Retainage management, Contract accounting.
- Knowledge of internal controls, audit processes, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing finance teams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to translate complex financial information into meaningful business insights.
- Effective communicator capable of building relationships across finance, operations, and project management teams.
