About the Role
The Regional Clinical Educator provides oversight of the clinical staff for all ground ambulances associated with MercyOne to deliver safe, evidence-based care. This role serves as a clinical leader across regional team locations and participates in MercyOne’s outreach program.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the quality assurance program for ground ambulance programs.
- Provide leadership and clinical oversight for all clinical staff across the state.
- Coordinate with local base Educators on formal education for the Emergency Transport Services Division based on industry trends and quality data.
- Participate in hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating staff alongside Directors, Managers, and Educators.
- Facilitate the on-boarding process of new employees in collaboration with local base leadership.
- Drive the clinical advancement of the program.
- Assess and evaluate the performance of clinical staff in all regions.
- Serve as a clinical resource and preceptor for all clinical staff.
- Coordinate with Medical Directors to review, write, and edit Patient Care Guidelines and Policy and Procedures using evidence-based material.
- Provide direct oversight of all research projects.
- Act as the primary point of contact for accreditation standards and surveys.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Division leadership.
Requirements
- Minimum of four years of registered nursing experience in critical care or emergency department or four years of Critical Care Paramedic transport experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Bachelor of Emergency Management (Master’s Degree preferred).
- Experience in public speaking and education/training preferred.
Qualifications
At time of hire with MercyOne, must have and maintain:
- Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Iowa or Certified Iowa or Nationally Registered Paramedic (NREMT).
- Critical Care Endorsement (CCP).
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Advanced Certification (FP-C, CCP-C, or CFRN) preferred.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
- Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course (TPATC) preferred.
- Instructor certification preferred.
Obtain within 3 months of hire and maintain:
- Successful completion of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served.
Obtain within 6 months of hire and maintain:
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
